BRIDAL INSPIRATION. MINMAL MOROCCO INSPIRED SHOOT.

Updated: Oct 27, 2020

Last year I teamed up with a bunch of super talented people to create these beautiful images, that I am sure, will inspire many of you.

Sophie from Sophie Warren Weddings came out with a great idea to pair the simplicity of Scandi design with a stripped back nod to Moroccan chic. This magical combination of two styles resulted in a fresh, modern and minimalist take on boho-luxe.

We chose a soft and muted colour palette for this shoot. A simple, clean cut wedding dress from the new Suzanne Neville collection perfectly fits with the minimalistic idea.

The dark features of our model Olivia are a great reflection of Moroccan beauty. I wanted to keep the makeup and hairstyling minimal, modern and fresh, but still bridal. Nothing overly done to play on a contrast with the rich set design prepared by Hazel Gardiner Design.

This is a celebration of the modern bride, a free-spirited and sophisticated woman who oozes elegance, someone who is confident in her skin and fashion style.

To achieve this bridal makeup look, I used the following products:

I prepared Olivias skin with Illamasqua Hydra Veil Gel Moisturizer that perfectly doubles up as a primer too. I then followed up with a light and glowing foundation from Charlotte Tilbury - Light Wander Foundation.

On the eyes I used a M.A.C Cosmetics Paint Pot in Groundwork. This is an amazing product that I frequently use on my brides and photoshoots. It's creamy consistency glides on the skin like magic and once dried, it stays put all day. It is a versatile makeup product that can be used on its own or as an eyeshadow prime .

I then spiced things up with a brown shimmery eyeshadow from Top Shop in shade 'Signal". A subtle sparkle added to the eye plays well in the evening light.

Bobbi Crown Creme Blusher in the shade 'Calypso' was added to the apples of the cheeks. Adding a fresh and youthful appearance, this peachy colour suits the dark features of Olivia so well.

The key product for this fresh bridal makeup look is a creme highlighter from Kryolan. It's called Silver Shimmering Foundation, however it is most defintely not a foundation at all :)

When applied above the blusher, it radiates light and adds a subtle glow to the look.

Now on to the lips. I wanted to keep things fresh, so my choice for the lipstick fell on Clinique Chubby Stick in the shade 'Bountiful Blush'. I love it's creamy texture. I use it often on my brides that don't wear lipstick and prefer natural bridal makeup looks.

TIP. You can double it up and use it as a blusher.

Olivia has naturally very long, thick brown hair. Not the easiest type when it comes to hairstyling. My idea of the perfect hairstyle for this shoot was something sleek, flawing, with a slight wave throughout. I used a 32 mm curling wand an set the hair all in one direction. I then brushed the curls out and lightly sprayed with Osis + 3 Hairspray. A very simple hairstyle that reflected the minimalistic approach of the shoot.

A statement head crown and oversized handmade earrings from Verbena Madrid add that magical touch to the finished look. Verbena is an independent Spanish designer, who makes accessories using traditional Spanish techniques.
