With summer in full swing ( or at least it felt that way up until a few days ago) I spent most of my time soaking up the sun on the terrace and submerging myself in self-care. I am sure many can relate. So I thought to myself I would share my favourite summer products that I have been using religiously during the lockdown. Most are skin care products that will nourish and look after your skin's wellbeing and your general self- care.
CHARLOTTE TILBURY MAGIC EYE RESCUE
My absolute number one when it comes to eye creams! I use it on myself and my bridal clients. This little tub of magic is packed with supercharged ingredients including Vitamin C, winter daphne stem cell extract, retinol, soy peptides and red algae marigel. It is a costly little thing, but I absolutely recommend it. You only need a tiny amount, so it will last a long time. It glides on easily, leaving your skin feeling nourished and smooth.
BEAUTY DRUGS BLACK & GOLDY HYDROGEL EYEPATCHES
Being a lady over 30, I can't help noticing certain changes in my skin, especially around the eye area. The loss of collagen causes the loss of elasticity which results in more prominent fine lines or so called 'crows feet' which I dislike so much! This turned me into an under-eye skin care obsessor. Over the years I have tried many products, but there are only a few I can recommend. Eye patches are my favourite! I pop them on in the morning, after I washed and toned my face and keep them on until they dry out. Submerged in a gel with sodium hyaluronate, allantoin and aloe vera leaf juice powder not only do they moisturise under the eye area, but also help to reduce puffiness, awaken your eyes and prevent formation of new wrinkles. What's not to like?
I highly recommend hydrogel patches to all my brides. Just pop them on in the morning of your wedding, before your bridal makeup application for the under-eye area moisture and better makeup finish. The skin will absorb as much product as it needs. Don't forget to clean up the gel residue with a cotton pad soaked in toner. Follow up with an under eye creme or primer and continue with the makeup application as usual.
BODY SHOP VITAMIN E HYDRATING FACE MIST
Love! Love! Love! this hydrating mist! It smells like roses and sprays like a dream! Packed with vitamin E, wheatgerm oil and community trade soya oil from Brazil, it's made to nourish your skin. Use it in the morning, during the day or at night. Basically any time your skin needs some TLC. You can also spray it throughout the day to refresh your makeup. Suitable for all skin types. Perfect for brides with dry skin to refresh their makeup during the wedding day or in cases when you accidentally overly powdered. A few pumps of the mist and skin looks natural again!
TIP. Keep your bottle in the fridge to use it as a hydrating coolant during the hot summer days.
LUCAS PAW PAW OINTMENT
Do not mix with Dr. PAW PAW - an imitation product widely available in the UK. The packaging looks very similar and it is very easy to mistake one for another.
The original product is produced by a company called Lucas Paw Paw Remedies, based in Australia and is certified to be free of carcinogens. Papain is the main ingredient and is widely used to heal wounds, burns and any minor skin irritations or injuries.
This is a magic product I have been using for many ears and I swear by it. Lucas Paw Paw works miracles on dry and chipped lips! All of my clients love it! And I can not recommend it enough!
TIP. During the winter months, when skin is malnourished and dry patches appear around the nose or sometimes around the eyebrow area, use this product to soften the flakes and then gently remove with exfoliating pads or wipes. Its is a great tip when dealing with dry skin on the wedding day.
